Each team will be provided with a secret stash of fabric, ribbon, trim, beads, thread, etc. and will use their creativity to turn it all into lovely largess. Team members may provide their scissors, needles, pins, thimbles, and tape measures – no other personal items may be used. Items will be displayed for populace viewing and will be voting for their favorite creations. The crown will select a winning team based on quantity, quality, and originality.

Register an entire team, or sign up for a team at the kick-off meeting Wednesday at the A&S pavilions at Noon. Kick-off and explanation of combat stitchery will run approximately 20 minutes.
All items are due back for check in NO LATER THAN Saturday at 9am. Display will run from approximately 10am till 2pm. Winners will be announced at court!

From the A&S Scheduling Deputy

Greetings to the people of Atenveldt!

It is my honor to be the scheduler for A&S classes this year. If you plan to escape Arizona’s summer heat and join us this year in the cool mountains of Alpine, and if you are an artisan, a craftsman, or just a person with knowledge to share, please consider sharing your know-how with us!

So far this year, classes will be held during the weekend (Friday and Saturday), but if the interest is high, more days can be opened during the week-long war to accommodate. But as they say, the early bird gets the worm (and the early registration gets the preferred time slot)!

This year Highlands War is in a  new location – the stunning White Mountains of Eastern Arizona. Located approximately 14 miles south of Alpine, AZ and 9 miles west on FR26, the Highlands site is nestled in a alpine meadow bordering stately pine trees.

The site is approximately 5 hours from: Ash Fork, Prescott, and Tucson; 4 hours from Phoenix; 3 hours from Albuquerque NM and Silver City NM; 3 hours from Payson; 30 minutes from Alpine AZ. Travel times will vary with tourist traffic.
