Camp Fires & Smoking

The Highlands War Fire Policy may be made more restrictive by the property owner, who follows the National Forest Service fire restrictions.

Fire danger is always a reality for those of us who live in the North. The Alpine area was severely damaged by the Wallow fire in 2011. Fire awareness is high among the local population. The alpine meadow that hosts Highlands War was untouched by the fire. We all must work together to protect our war site.

All campsites should have personal fire extinguishers.

The Barony of Ered Sul has decided to strictly enforce a “propane only” fire policy at Highlands. Propane firepits and torches are permissible as long as they can be turned off with a 1/4 turn valve. Oil tiki torches and other similar lamps are NOT permitted.

Smoking is permitted onsite. Disposal containers will be available at the information tent – come get as many as you need. Do not field-strip or bury your butts because we don’t want livestock and horses eating them after we leave.
